RBC VELOCITY TRACKING CORRELATOR
MODEL 102BC/102BCF
Description | Features | Specifications
RBC Velocity Tracking Correlator Models 102BC/102BCF

Description:
The RBC Velocity Tracking Correlator is a self-contained, on-line computing system. It accepts dual slit input signals from a dual window photo analyzer television microscope or photo diode microscope system. When used with a Video Photometric Analyzer, red blood cell velocity may be measured over a range of from 0.1 to above 0.8 mm/sec. Used with special high frame rate TV cameras, the upper limit is extended to several mm/sec. TV frame rate limitations can be circumvented by employing a photo diode assembly* in the optical path allowing the upper range to be extended to 80 mm/sec.

*Supplied with the Model 102BCF.

Features:
On-line computation of 64 point correlogram for visual recognition on self-contained cathode-ray tube display.

Velocity meter readout plus analog output.

Fast response via feedback tracking.

High resolution over entire range.

Self-contained synthetic photometric signals for simplification of test and checkout.

Push pot is provided so actual distance of slits can be entered into the correlator.

Theory:
The delay line time base of a self-contained 64 point parallel cross correlation computer is automatically varied via a special feedback loop such as to maintain the correlogram symmetrical about the midpoint. The resulting delay-line clock frequency is thereby constrained to be proportional to the velocity of the particles which give rise to the photometric signals.

Specifications:
Resolution: Better than one part in 250.
Input Signal Range: 0.05 to 1.0 volt peak to peak.
Computation Record Length: Adjustable from 1.0 to 50.0 sec.
Response Time: Less than 1/10 record length for well correlated signals.
Ranges: 1.0, 10.0 and 100.0 mm/sec full scale.
Power: 100 VAC, 1.7 A, 47-63 Hz.
Weight: Approximately 30 pounds.
NOTE: Model 102BCF
The Fiber Optic Photometer may be purchased with a RBC Velocity Tracking Correlator. This is a photo diode assembly, 6" in diameter by 1" thick (1.5 lbs.) which mounts in the optical path between a standard ("C" mount) video camera and microscope light shield (supplied by customer).

Less than 5% of the vidicon aperature is obscured by the fiber light pipes. Sensitivity is commensurate with that of a standard silicon diode camera, and power is supplied by the Model 102BC. A pure ripple free, i.e. D-C, light source is required for microscope illumination since power line ripple in light source will mask RBC signals of interest. Photometer output directly drives Model 102BC inputs. The fiber pipes may be moved in and out of optical field by convenient slide controls.

NOTE: The Fiber Optic Photometer may be purchased at a later date with no modification to the Model 102BC required.
